5 Steps to Clarity, Part 1

Step 1: Spend some time writing out your story, what you’ve accomplished and overcome in life, and your unique experiences are important to your brand because they help you define your values and your messaging.

Back in the spring of 2020, I remember telling a friend of mine that I was thinking about leaving my job and starting my own business and this friend was super supportive and like “oh yeah, you can totally do that, you got this girl!” Then a couple of months later when I called him to tell him that I quit and I was going for it, he was like “Are you serious?! Holy Cow, I didn’t think you were going to do it that fast! Wow!”

I wasn’t surprised though, I had just spent the past two years using my talents and skills in a new industry and learning to do a lot of new things, and I didn’t want to wait anymore, I knew I could do it. That was all the confidence I needed to make the leap of faith...oh, and a few good books along the way too ;)

When I sat down to journal about my story, what I’ve accomplished and my unique experiences... I realized that it’s my ability to make a decision and go for it. To dive in head first and not be afraid of failing. To be absolutely OBSESSED with whatever I’m into at the moment that it’s all I can think about or talk about.

That recurring theme in my life...deciding to train for my first half marathon when I had never run more than 2 miles at a time before in my life, like deciding to become a mom and going for #2 before my first was even 9 months old, like deciding to get healthy again and completely changing my diet for two years while trying to reverse my autoimmune disease. These are all examples of me giving 110%, letting what I’m into completely consume me. And then getting results! I just knew I could do that with a business too!

I remember being a pretty confident kid when I was young, and even though I went through tough years with confidence as a teen, I definitely feel like this quality has always been with me. I didn’t have a ton of confidence in my talents and skills when I first decided to take on entrepreneurship, but I DID have a lot of confidence in myself, I just knew I could do it.

When I think about how this fits into my branding, I decided that one of my biggest values is believing in myself and GOING ALL IN with whatever I am doing. Facing fear and making the decision to do it anyway. Making BIG decisions is my forte, I want to help others do that too.

I absolutely LOVE inspiring friends and helping clients to discover their unique experiences and how those relate to their brand and their brand’s message. It’s all about understanding what your values are, and if that value resonates with someone else, and they know they share that with you, it creates authentic connection and that is what will make people want to work with you.

What experiences have you had that uniquely sets you apart? How did these experiences create values for you? These questions are Step 1 in the Branding Cheat Sheet PDF I created for you that is available here!
