A challenge for thankfulness.

As we go into the week of Thanksgiving, I am reminded of what’s going to be on everyone’s minds: being thankful for the people we love and the good things happening in our lives.

But what about the things that don’t feel GOOD? What about the sickness that is affecting all of us in some way right now? I think this Thanksgiving is going to be really hard for many of us because there is a lot of negativity out there that is consuming our world right now. But, the expression of being thankful is more powerful than this negativity!

So what if we could not only be thankful for the good things, but try to be thankful for our challenges too? This might feel really difficult and uncomfortable for you, it does for me sometimes also. But when we accept that there is good in our challenges and hardships, we open ourselves up to another level of being that has the power to change the way we think.

There is almost always a lesson to learn from the difficult times we go through, and these lessons shape us into who we are, and who you are is exactly what is needed in this world, your unique self has a purpose here that no one else can fill. And that purpose is definitely something to be thankful for!

So join me this week in thinking of your biggest challenge right now, one thing that really frustrates you. And together let’s change the way we think about this challenge, let’s be thankful for it. Write it down! Then write down the outcome or lesson of this challenge that you can be thankful for. Then everyday this week when you wake up in the morning, think of that challenge and be thankful for it, say to yourself or out loud: “I am thankful for my challenge!”

Be bold and write your challenge and how you are thankful for it in the comments below! Let’s start this week out in a powerful way!
