How to be Confident in Marketing

Yep, I get it, branding is confusing and marketing is overwhelming. There is a lot of information out there and it’s hard to know what is important for where you are at right now on your entrepreneurial journey. Where do you even start if you are brand new? It can be really scary to put your dream business out there into the world, what if you get it all wrong?

That’s why I help new entrepreneurs, who have a service-based or coaching business, learn how to confidently market their businesses online. I am also a graphic designer, who works one-on-one with entrepreneurs to design a personalized brand that represents them authentically to their ideal audience. I also coach my clients on HOW to use their brand to market their business with confidence. This power combination of design and strategy leaves them feeling fearless as they share what they have to offer online for all to see.

But I also want to help entrepreneurs who are just starting out, who may not have the money yet to hire a designer but they need to start somewhere and they want to do it right! They want to make a good first impression and create a foundation that they can build off of as they grow. So if that’s where you’re at, then what are the essentials that you should start with when it comes to marketing?

Well, first of all, the key to marketing with confidence is KNOWING YOUR BRAND inside and out. I have created an easy roadmap for the new entrepreneur to utilize so that you can quickly and simply set up an authentic and powerful brand message, vibe and strategy. So you can stop wasting time and money researching endless resources online; wondering if you are getting it all right; and buying marketing tools you aren’t ready for yet.

So here’s the low-down on Branding versus Marketing:

Branding is the personality of your business and marketing is the method in which you share that personality with the world. If you take the time to simply define your brand, you will feel so much more confident marketing your message online.

So HOW do you define your brand? Here are 3 branding foundations to explore that help you get clarity: WHAT is your mission? WHY are you passionate about your values? WHO is your audience?

  1. THE WHAT: What problem does your business solve? Or what desire does your business offer? Write a mission statement that is clear and simple so there is no confusion about what you do and how you can help.

  1. THE WHY: Why do you do this? Why did you start your business? Tell your story so your audience can connect with you and see if your values align with their own. This is the magic that creates a dedicated audience.

  1. THE WHO: Your audience is who you serve, your clients, customers and followers. Be careful not to speak too broadly with your message, people crave connection and may only stop to read or listen to what you have to say if they feel a connection to you. Find out as much as you can about your audience so you can speak to their pain points and what they are struggling with, or what they want and desire.
