BEING AUTHENTIC IN MY BRANDING.

I had to step out of my comfort zone and ask myself, what do I really want my brand to look like? In my career so far, I have spent a lot of time digging deep into what my client or boss wanted their design to look like. I’d explore the direction, present new ideas, interpret the feedback, and ultimately design what their vision was. There have been very few times that I have designed purely from my own desires and direction. So it felt a little foreign to me to ask myself what I wanted.

So I had to dig a little deeper into what lights me up, what my favorite visuals are and why. Sunsets, sun shining and beautiful light! That made me smile. I realized I love light, in college I majored in Photography, the art of using light. I loved painting and free-flowing artistic expression. It surprised me, my first reaction to it was “that’s cheesy, no one will like that.” Then I thought to myself, but that’s me! And maybe I am a little cheesy, and I’m okay with that!

I’m the type of person who is always looking at the light and imagining the possibilities for a photo, for creating a tangible piece of art from what I see. That’s the photographer in me, but also the essence of what makes my creativity shine. When my husband and I were in Hawaii for our 10th wedding anniversary, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do some of my favorite yoga poses and capture the beauty the light created on one of our morning sunrise hikes. This photo will always be a reminder to me of how it feels to love the moment you are in and how it feels when I let myself be who I am.

Rosebud Squire is a brand I designed for me, and it represents who I am and what makes me ...ME!

Being able to design based on the project presented to you, not what you personally prefer is the true essence of being a creative. And I pride myself on that ability to serve my clients in all types and standards of design. But to look deeply into who I am and design something that fits me, was really special and a very cool experience. I encourage you to find something that fits you, and make it your own without a worry in the world that someone else might not like it.
