HOW TO BE AUTHENTIC, PART 1

I am really grateful to have been asked to write this post. Understanding how I can serve YOU better is my goal. Serving others has always pulled at my heartstrings. As a child, I looked forward to Christmas every year, getting to pull those tags off of the giving tree at church was a highlight for me. I remember visualizing the kids faces when they would open the gift I picked out for them. This time of year reminds me of that memory, and it reminds me of my purpose.

For years in my career I wondered how and when I would finally get to serve others through my job, on a daily basis. I remember feeling the frustration of working for a large corporation and feeling like my efforts didn’t go towards a greater good. But now I can look back and realize that wasn’t true at all! Everything I did in my 12 years in corporate has given me the experience and ability to serve entrepreneurs today in a super meaningful way!

Understanding how to be authentic doesn’t come from a book, a classroom or job experience, it comes from your heart. Only you can find your own authenticity. One way to do that is to share stories about your life with others. Your life, what you have been through, your words and how you say them, these are the things that make you authentic, these are the things that people connect with. If you can share what you know and someone out there connects with you, you are giving and serving them. Because human connection is a gift from GOD!

I share through writing because I feel called to connect and the written word is where it feels good for me right now. But it doesn’t have to be in writing for you. If you feel better speaking your stories, you can try podcasting or video blogging! Anyway you can tell your story, go for it. Even if you are not sure how your stories connect to what you are doing for your business, just start and see where it takes you. We all want to find those who we connect with, people who share common likes, experiences and purpose. And if you don’t share your story, your people won’t be able to find you. So get sharing today!
